Website platform migration
Budget: €250 – €750 EUR
I have an existing site built with an SSG - Middleman - a ruby project. Since the latter is apparently no longer supported, I need to migrate to something different, so to be able to continue to update my site still retaining the commodity of a static site in the end.
This can also be a chance to consider a new platform in a different language, depending on your details.
The personal website is made of a limited number of templates
- Home Page
- Working history
- Blog
- Blog articles
- Contact me
Expected outcome of this migration:
- NO Template redesign; it's just a code/platform migration
- Possibly switch into a CI/DI pipeline, e.g. storying pages into GitHub and pushing live with sites like NetLify
- It has to be an SSG in the end, don't come forward proposing WordPress
- If CI/CD can't be implemented, the site needs to be built under Ubuntu painlessly
- The project has to support multiple languages in a single instance producing output in separate content folders (as far as I've seen, some frameworks out of there are not that prone to)
- I am keen to consider Ruby projects like Jekyll, Python (I identified Lektor as a nice one, though not perfect), JavaScript with 11ty.dev (again, I see the need for several exploration/accommodation)
I have no time to embark on this migration myself at this stage of my life, although I have decent coding experience. So what I would expect from you
- Experience in advice a solution to accomplish my goal
- Coding support to look into the existing Ruby code, migrate into the new language in a like-for-like manner and put me in the condition to rebuild the site
How to move next and who will be considered
- People that demonstrate some expertise. Refrain from sending over lists of projects you completed in the first instance or catching my attention with waffles
- Once you understand the requirements above, send me a few lines saying the environment you are comfortable with and why that would fit
- An initial estimate of how much a project like this could cost. This will be not a show-stopper, and the right price will be paid for your expertise according to your needs. I want to have a rough idea and a way to rank the most interesting projects
More details about the website to migrate will be provided only to the selected candidates during the first stage, though knowing the live web address it's not a game-changer.
Thanks for your attention
