Transfer my website from one hosting to another.

I currently have my website on a hosting site that is far too expensive. I would like to move it to a new hosting site that is more cost effective. I do not yet have the new hosting website and looking for recommendations for a cheaper alternative.

*The site is a Wordpress site.
* Currently hosted by the company that built the site and charging me a fortune to continue hosting it through them.
