Marcus Family Reunion Relationship Tool
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
We are organising a family reunion in Dublin in July 2023 for the Marcus Family. About 100 people. As most attendees will not know each other we are thinking of developing a web site that people can use on their mobile phones as an ice-breaker.
(We are thinking that doing this on a web site might be cheaper than developing a mobile app for both iOS and Android. Is this correct?)
It might work like this:
1) Person A (ID #25) meets Person B (ID#47)
2) They have never meet before and so obviously don't know how they are related to each other - but they are as otherwise they wouldn't be at the Reunion!
3) Both of them are wearing dog tag ID cards with their unique number on it (and/or we could use QR codes)
4) Person A #25 sees Person B's ID is #47 and enters #47 into the web site on their mobile phone.
5) The code looks up #47 and spits out how #25 and #47 are related and a brief bio on both of them.
6) And of course Person B could do it as well ie look up ID#25 etc...
7) The ice is now broken and now Person A & Person B know each other...
Most of the required data is currently stored in TribalPages - a genealogy site - called Yidden of Ireland. There is no API so we would have to dump the data out of TP into a hosted database.
