Azure to AWS: Serverless Booking Site Migration & Redesign
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
Project Title: Azure Booking Website Migration & Modernization to AWS Serverless
Category: Web Development / Cloud Engineering / Full Stack Development
Project Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled freelancer or agency to undertake a complete migration and modernization of our existing customer booking website. The current platform is hosted on Microsoft Azure, and we aim to rebuild it entirely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using a serverless architecture.
This project requires not only migrating the backend infrastructure but also redesigning the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) for both customers and administrators, developing new frontend and backend components, setting up the necessary AWS infrastructure, performing rigorous testing, and managing the data migration and deployment process.
Key Project Objectives:
Migrate the booking platform from Azure to AWS.
Implement a modern, scalable, and cost-efficient serverless architecture.
Redesign and develop new, responsive UI/UX for customer and admin interfaces.
Meet specific high-performance and high-availability targets.
Ensure a seamless transition for our existing customer base and data.
Required Skills & Expertise:
We require demonstrated expertise in the following areas:
AWS Services: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, Cognito, SNS, EventBridge.
Cloud Migration: Proven experience migrating applications, especially from Azure to AWS.
Serverless Architecture: Deep understanding and practical experience in designing and building serverless solutions.
Frontend Development: Modern SPA frameworks (React, Vue, Angular), HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Responsive Design.
Backend Development: Serverless function development (Node.js, Python preferred), RESTful API design.
Database: NoSQL database design (specifically DynamoDB), data modeling, data migration techniques.
UI/UX Design: Wireframing, prototyping, creating intuitive user interfaces.
DevOps: CI/CD pipeline setup and management (e.g., AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
Testing: Unit, integration, performance, load, and security testing methodologies.
Detailed Project Scope & Deliverables:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Discovery and Planning Phase:
Conduct a technical discovery of the existing Azure-hosted site.
Document current functionality, user flows, and data structures.
Develop a comprehensive migration strategy and project timeline.
Define the detailed technical architecture and AWS implementation plan.
Create a robust data migration plan.
Design Phase:
Develop modern UI/UX designs for the customer-facing booking interface.
Design an efficient admin interface for booking management.
Create wireframes and prototypes for client approval.
Define responsive design requirements for optimal mobile compatibility (target 60%+ mobile users).
AWS Infrastructure Setup:
Configure S3 for static website hosting and CloudFront for CDN.
Implement Cognito for user authentication/authorization (target 50k+ users).
Set up API Gateway with required endpoints (Customer: GET/POST/PUT /booking; Admin: GET/POST/PUT/DELETE /booking).
Set up DynamoDB tables with appropriate indexes and scaling.
Configure SNS for notifications and EventBridge for scheduled tasks (e.g., reports).
Frontend Development:
Develop a responsive Single-Page Application (SPA) for the booking website.
Implement the customer booking interface and admin management portal.
Integrate Cognito authentication flows.
Ensure cross-browser compatibility.
Backend Development:
Develop AWS Lambda functions for booking creation, updates, retrieval, report generation, etc.
Implement necessary API integrations.
Configure robust data validation and error handling.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans (unit, integration).
Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Perform security testing.
Execute performance and load testing to meet specified requirements.
Deployment & Go-Live:
Set up CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment.
Create and manage a staging environment.
Execute the data migration from Azure to AWS.
Develop and implement the cutover strategy.
Provide initial post-launch monitoring and support.
System Capacity & Performance Requirements:
The new system MUST be designed and implemented to meet these minimums:
User Capacity: Support up to 10,000 concurrent users.
Transaction Volume: Handle 100 bookings per minute at peak times.
Response Time: 95% of API requests must complete within 500ms.
Availability: Achieve 99.9% uptime (excluding scheduled maintenance).
Data Storage: Initial 50GB capacity with clear scalability plan.
User Accounts: Support up to 50,000 registered users.
Administrative Users: Support up to 25 concurrent admin users.
Geographic Focus: Optimized for primary user base in Malaysia, with regional/global access via CloudFront.
Out of Scope Items:
Content creation (text, images, videos).
SEO optimization efforts.
Ongoing website maintenance or support contracts beyond the initial post-launch period.
End-user training beyond standard documentation/handover.
Integration with systems not explicitly mentioned in this scope.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
We are looking for an individual or agency with:
A strong portfolio demonstrating successful AWS serverless projects and cloud migrations (Azure-to-AWS is a major plus).
Experience building scalable, high-performance web applications.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
A clear methodology for project management and delivery.
How to Apply:
Please submit your proposal including:
A brief introduction outlining why you/your agency is a good fit.
Details of your relevant experience, focusing on AWS serverless, migrations, and booking/e-commerce systems. Include links to portfolio examples if possible.
Your proposed approach to tackling this project.
An estimated timeline and your pricing structure (fixed project cost).
Your current availability/start date.
We look forward to receiving your proposals!
