Project: Final Optimization of WordPress Website (Divi + EDD)
I’ve built a website using WordPress and the Divi Builder, where I sell my e-books via Easy Digital Downloads (EDD). The site is almost ready for launch, but there are still several design, performance, and functionality issues that need to be fixed. I’m looking for an experienced freelancer to handle the final tweaks and optimizations so that the website is modern, responsive, and user-friendly.
Main Tasks & Requirements
1. Redesign Checkout and Related Pages (Order Confirmation, Transaction Error):
The current EDD checkout page looks outdated and unappealing.
The goal is to create a modern, clean checkout experience that works seamlessly on both desktop and mobile devices.
Adjustments should ideally be made through custom code modules or template overrides to allow full control over HTML/CSS.
Special focus on mobile optimization: clean layout, reduced padding, well-designed form elements, and responsive behavior.
2. Header and Footer:
The header (with burger menu) should load quickly in sticky mode – currently there's a delay when loading the logo or menu icon.
Ensure proper mobile display (correct sizing, no overlap).
Adjustments to colors, transitions, and visual styling are desired to achieve a modern look & feel.
3. CSS Optimization and Conflict Resolution:
Existing CSS changes (via Divi Theme Options, Custom CSS, Code Modules) often get overwritten by Divi’s default styles.
The freelancer should consolidate and optimize all custom CSS with high specificity, including media queries, to ensure consistent styling (e.g. rounded containers, button design, text colors).
Identify and remove unnecessary scripts (e.g. Lazy Load, FitVids) that may be hurting page speed.
4. Performance & Load Times:
Some elements (logo, burger icon) load too slowly on mobile and negatively affect Largest Contentful Paint (LCP).
The freelancer should investigate if this is due to images, scripts (e.g. jquery.fitvids.js), or theme/plugin settings – and resolve it.
5. Bug Fixes and Functionality Testing:
Don’t just focus on the [edd_checkout] shortcode – check the entire site for bugs, especially in the checkout process.
Fix any rendering, shortcode, or form display issues.
Ensure Stripe payments work smoothly (test and live mode), and that e-book delivery via automation is functioning correctly.
The final result should be both fully functional and aesthetically modern.
