Webpack expert needed for importing scss from node modules

We are a team of developers that are having an issue including sass mixins from the node_modules folder that contains the @material package that is used for using Material components in our vue project. The material components are all imported and instantiated correctly into the project, but for some reason we are unable to access the sass mixins needed to customize the styling of the material components.
We are using vanilla material components from material.io instead of vue-material or vuetify. This is a limitation due to our project structure, so we need to use material components directly from the material library provided by google.
We are quite certain this is a webpack issue, so we need a webpack expert to make sure that all of the sass mixins for material components is included in the project when compiled. Having knowledge in vue is a plus, but not necessary.
