I manage a Joomla website that’s almost entirely devoted to blog posts and I’m getting tired of automated bots slipping through my contact and comment forms.
What I need is a lightweight, no-fuss fix: add a simple “tell-me-you’re-human” line (a small honeypot or hidden text field works) at the very bottom of the relevant Joomla forms so any script that doesn’t follow instructions is blocked before it ever reaches my inbox.

You’ll need to:
• Locate the template files or form extensions currently in use.
• Insert the extra line / field cleanly without disturbing existing styling.
• Write the PHP or JavaScript check that refuses submission if the field is filled (or the keyword is missing).
• Test everything on both the staging copy and the live site to make sure genuine visitors have zero friction.
• Provide a brief note of the edits so I can replicate them after future updates.

I don’t want reCAPTCHA or anything that drags down UX—just the discreet line at the end that filters bots and keeps my genuine readers happy.
