Alarm clock competitor analysis
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I plan to create an alarm clock mobile app for both iOS and Android.
Just an alarm clock - no complex features like sleep tracking, statistics, etc.
I need a competitor analysis of the top available alarm clock apps in both Apple App Store and Google Play Store - to clearly define the features and function of the app.
Each analyzed app must have extracted its top ‘pros and cons’ (positive and negative customer experiences) based on the reviews in the app stores.
The search words don’t have to be exactly “alarm clock” - not all apps are named Alarm Clock. Other key words should also be used for searching of the top alarm clock apps. The aim is to get insight form the most widely used alarm clock apps regarding their names.
Details:
1. Defining the set of the apps to analyze
The set of apps should be chosen based on the following criteria (both for Apple App Store & Google Play Store):
* Top 5 Rating
* Top 5 Downloads Count
* Top 5 Reviews Count
This can make a maximum number of 15 apps to analyze for each app store. Some top 5 apps will probably reside in more than one group and possibly in both app stores so the whole set might be smaller.
I am interested in analyzing maximum 7 apps per app store so in case the remaining set is more than 7 - choose the 7 apps with the largest reviews count.
Example for Apple App Store
* Top 5 Rаted Apps - A, B, C, D, E
* Top 5 Downloaded Apps - A, B, C, U, V
* Top 5 Reviewed Apps - A, B, U, X, Y
Combining the results from the three criteria and we have total of 9 - A, B, C, D, E, U, V, X, Y. Then we pick the 7 apps with most reviews from these 9 - in this case A, B, U, X, Y, V, D. These are the 7 apps to analyze in Apple App Store. The same needs to be done for deciding which apps to analyze in Google Play Store.
2. Analyzing
Having defined the set of apps to analyze, we need to find the top 5 ‘positive and negative’ experiences of their users - reading user reviews for each of them.
People usually encounter similar problems and are excited about similar things in a product so in the reviews some experiences are repeated.
I need the 5 mostly repeated ‘positive and negative’ experiences that users mention in the reviews. Considering the repeated experiences will be explained with different words - I need each repeating user experience summarized in just few words or a sentence.
3. Results
The results of the task should be written in the spreadsheet link at the bottom. There are two sheets in this spreadsheet - one for each app store. The columns are self-explanatory and there is an example in the beginning.
