The website has two ways to be queried, one is by ESTADO and MUNICIPIO (left side of the homepage). The second one is by SECCION (right side of the home page). Both need to be scrapped comprehensively into two date bases:
First for the ESTADO and MUNICIPIO (left side of the homepage), the data base should have the following fields:
A. ESTADO
B. MUNICIPIO
C. POSICION
D. NOMBRE
E. PARTIDO
F. DISTRITO
Follow the next steps:
1. Select each of the 32 options for the drop down menu ESTADO
2. Each ESTADO will have from 3 to several thousand alternatives for MUNICIPIO, need to scrap all options for all MUNICIPIO possibilities of each ESTADO
3. Once the two options above are selected press BUSCAR and go to page 2
4. On the drop down menu in page 2, we will have the different options for the field POSICION. We will only scrap the following:
• SENADORES MAYORIA RELATIVA
• DIPUTADOS FEDERALES MAYORIA RELATIVA
• DIPUTADOS LOCALES MAYORIA RELATIVA
• PRESIDENTES MUNICIPALES O ALCALDES
5. First select SENADORES MAYORIA RELATIVA (this goes into the field POSICION). A series of names will appear below in black letters and grey background followed by the party they represent. For example if ESTADO was set to OAXACA and MUNICIPIO to ABEJONES, the names below will start with GRISELDA GALICIA GARCIA / PARTIDO ACCIÓN NACIONAL. This name and party need to be copied in two different fields, NOMBRE (the text before the “/” bar) and PARTIDO (the text after the “/” bar) respectively. As you will see there maybe more than one candidate for each PARTY.
A total of 14 names are listed in this example and should be coded into 14 different lines listing:
