Image and data scraping to build a research library
Budget: $15 – $25 CAD
We're looking for a dev or technical person with experience scraping (semi)public websites -- Yelp, Instagram, etc -- to build a library of photos of food, along with labels of what type of dishes they are.
This is part of a research project where we're building AI-based recognition to help people understand the nutrients in foods, and lose weight.
The task will be:
* Help define and refine the images we're looking for
* Create a method for scraping sites with UGC (user generated content - ie photos) and downloading the food photos there
* Capturing relevant metadata -- eg the user's description of the dish, like "I went to Jimbo's Fish and Chips Restaurant -- here is a photo of the fish and chips i had!"
* Store those photos in a folder/DB with metadata attached to each
