Copy Election Data from Websites to a Spreadsheet
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
The attached excel spreadsheet contains information about the current and previous presidential elections in the United States. For each election, I need information on each of the 51 states:
1. (year) D Poll % (columns B, D, G . . .): This is the percent that the last poll run before the election said the Democrat would win of the vote in that state.
2. (year) R Poll % (columns C, E, H . . .): This is the percent that the last poll run before the election said the Republican would win of the vote in that state.
3. (year) Winner (columns F, I, L . . .): This is the party of the candidate who won that state. Note cell 2A. Websites use blue to indicate democrat (D) and red to indicate Republican (R) for these columns.
At the top of the columns in (1) is a link (“POLL”) to a webpage that contains the data in columns in (1) and (2).
At the top of the columns in (3) is a link (“WINNER”) to a webpage that contains the data in columns in (3).
I have included the link for columns B, D and F, as examples for all 3 types. You have to find the remaining data. Websites that may be useful (include in the search term) include:
1. Wikipedia
2. 270toWin
3. RealClear Polling
4. FiveThirtyEight
5. Dave Leip’s Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections
6. CNN Election Archive
7. The New York Times Election Guide
8. American Presidency Project
Please tell me how much you would like for each set of 3 election years.
Before we talk, tell me how many websites I have listed above.
When I hire you, I will immediately pay you (escrow and release) your Freelancer fee and escrow for the first 2 years. When you do it right we can continue for many more years – way past the years I have listed.
Your bid doesn’t really matter. The more data you can find, the more work there will be for you to do.
