Auto Locksmith Key Price Comparison MVP
Budget: £750 – £1,500 GBP
*Auto Locksmith Key Price Comparison Website (MVP)*
*Project Description:*
I’m looking to build a *simple price comparison website* for auto locksmiths. The goal is to show which wholesaler has a particular remote key or car fob *in stock* and *at what price*—so locksmiths don’t need to spend time checking multiple sites manually.
I already have *user access* to all major wholesalers' websites, so the idea is to pull product data (via *web scraping or APIs*) into one searchable site.
This is a *Minimum Viable Product (MVP)* build, so it doesn’t need to be fancy—just functional.
---
*Core Features:*
1. *Scrape Data* from 2–3 UK-based auto locksmith wholesalers:
- Product name
- Vehicle compatibility
- Price
- Availability (In stock / Out of stock)
- Product link to buy
- Brand/OEM part number if listed
2. *Frontend Website*:
- Basic search bar
- Filters (make/model/year or product code)
- Price comparison table for each key (sorted by lowest price)
- “Buy now” button (links out to the supplier’s page)
3. *Auto Updates*:
- Scraper runs daily (or multiple times a day if possible)
- Updates stock levels and prices automatically
4. *Admin Panel (Optional at this stage)*:
- Just to see logs of scrapes/errors or manually trigger a scrape
---
Optional Future Features (Not Needed for MVP):
- User accounts
- Email alerts when certain products are back in stock or drop in price
- Supplier dashboard
- Affiliate/referral system
---
Tech Stack Preferences:
Open to suggestions, but would prefer something easy to maintain:
- Frontend: React or simple HTML/CSS/Bootstrap
- Backend: Node.js, Python, or PHP (whatever’s best for scraping)
- Database: MySQL, Firebase, or anything simple to start
---
Budget:
Looking to start small with a working MVP. Budget is *£800–£1,500 max*, depending on how clean and reliable the build is. Open to long-term work if this goes well.
---
Ongoing Work:
If this goes well, I’ll be scaling it out to include more wholesalers, new features, and a white-label version.
---
I’ll Provide:
- Login access to wholesaler sites (if needed for scraping)
- Examples of key types/part numbers locksmiths use
- - Ongoing guidance and trade knowledge
