WordPress Spam Control & Age-Gate

I run lostallhope.com, a long-standing global suicide-prevention resource that was recently rebuilt on WordPress. Even after adding reCAPTCHA v2 to the blog comments we are still deleting 100+ spam submissions every week, so my first priority is to tighten that filter without frustrating genuine users.
Here’s what I need done:
• Diagnose why reCAPTCHA v2 is leaking so much junk and implement a more effective layer—whether that means fine-tuning v2, moving to reCAPTCHA v3 or hCaptcha, bolting on Akismet/Antispam Bee, adding server-side honeypots, or a custom solution you recommend. Success for me is spam dropping to single digits while comment flow for real visitors remains smooth.
• Integrate an age-verification gateway based on identity document checks (I’m leaning toward Yoti, but am open to any comparable SDK that meets UK/EU data-protection standards). The prompt should appear only on pages I flag, run invisibly once verified, and log the outcome for compliance audits.
