Website-Wide Text-to-Speech Integration
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I want every piece of text on my website to be spoken aloud so visually-impaired visitors can browse independently. The platform field in my notes reads “text to speech,” which means I’m flexible—I simply need a solution that bolts onto the existing site, whatever stack you prefer, and that runs smoothly in the browser without forcing users to install anything.
Scope
• Convert all on-page text into clear, natural speech.
• Offer language switching between English and Spanish.
• Trigger playback through an obvious on-screen control or a keyboard shortcut, keeping accessibility best practices front and center.
• Ensure performance remains fast and the voices sound human, not robotic, across Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and mobile browsers.
I’m open to the tools you like—Web Speech API, Google Cloud TTS, AWS Polly, or another library—so long as licensing is handled and the final code is well-commented for future tweaks.
Acceptance criteria
• Every textual element reads correctly in both languages.
• No clashes with my current design or scripts.
• Simple instructions that let me enable, disable, or update voices on my own.
If you’ve built a fully accessible, voice-enabled site before, I’d love to see a quick demo link and hear how you’d approach this build.
