Towing Dispatch Software Development
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m looking to have a purpose-built dispatch platform created for my towing operation. The system must let a dispatcher see every truck in real time on a map, assign or re-route jobs instantly, and trigger automatic status texts or emails that keep customers in the loop from pickup through drop-off.
Core workflow
• Real-time vehicle tracking pulls live location data from our existing GPS tracking systems and overlays it on the dispatch screen.
• Job assignment and management should be drag-and-drop simple, with clear progress states that drivers update from the road on mobile.
• Customer notifications and updates go out automatically at key milestones (en-route, on-scene, completed).
Integrations
– GPS tracking systems we already use feed location data directly into the platform.
– A payment gateway processes tow fees on completion, so drivers don’t need a separate app.
– CRM software receives completed-job details and customer feedback for follow-up marketing and reporting.
User roles
Admin controls settings, rates, and reports.
Dispatcher manages the live board and communicates with drivers.
Driver accesses a stripped-down mobile view to accept jobs, navigate, update status, capture photos, and collect signatures or payments.
Tech notes & preferences
Web-based (responsive) with a companion driver app is ideal. I’m open on the stack as long as it’s reliable, well-documented, and easy to maintain. Data should sync in near real time even on spotty cellular connections, and everything needs to run securely under HTTPS with role-based permissions.
Deliverables
1. Fully functioning dispatch platform with integrations above.
2. Driver mobile app or PWA that mirrors the field workflow.
3. Source code, database schema, and a brief deployment guide.
4. A live demo on your staging server for acceptance testing.
Once the system passes testing, I’ll migrate it to our AWS account, so dockerised containers or clear deployment scripts will speed things up. If you’ve built logistics or towing tools before, that experience will be a big plus—let me know what you’ve done and the tech you used.
