Inclusive Weather App and Website Development
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Project Title: Development of an Inclusive and Accessible Weather Mobile App (iOS & Android) and Website
Project Overview:
I am looking for a professional developer or a development team to create a highly accessible weather forecast platform, including a responsive website and cross-platform mobile applications (iOS & Android). The primary goal of this project is "Inclusion"—making weather information easily understandable for everyone, specifically designed for the elderly, the visually impaired, and the hearing impaired.
Key Features & Requirements:
1. Inclusive UI/UX Design:
High Contrast Mode: Interface must support high-contrast color themes (e.g., Yellow on Black) for users with low vision.
Dynamic Font Scaling: Large, easy-to-read typography.
Minimalist Interface: Instead of complex charts, use large, intuitive weather icons and simple status text.
Haptic Feedback: Unique vibration patterns for different weather alerts (e.g., heavy rain or wind) to assist users with hearing impairments.
2. Accessibility Tools:
Voice Integration (Text-to-Speech): A prominent "Listen" button that reads out the current weather and forecasts.
Screen Reader Optimization: Full compatibility with VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android).
Visual Alerts: Flashing screen or high-visibility color changes for emergency weather warnings.
3. Core Functionality:
Real-time Data: Integration with professional weather APIs (OpenWeatherMap, AccuWeather, etc.).
Location Services: Automatic location detection via GPS with manual search options.
Push Notifications: Simplified, human-readable alerts for sudden weather changes.
Clothing Recommendations: Simple icons suggesting what to wear (e.g., umbrella, heavy coat) based on conditions.
Technical Preferences:
Mobile: Flutter or React Native (Cross-platform).
Frontend: React.js or Next.js.
Backend: Node.js or Python (FastAPI/Django).
Cloud: Firebase for push notifications and hosting.
Deliverables:
Fully functional iOS and Android apps.
Responsive web application.
Source code with documentation.
Support for App Store and Google Play Store deployment.
Note: Please provide examples of previous projects where you have implemented accessibility features (WCAG standards).
