Custom Collection Ordering in Shopify

My store runs on the Dawn theme and I need a way to place my 10-50 collections in a very specific, custom manual order—one that Shopify’s native settings refuse to let me control.

What I’m after
• A simple, reliable solution (theme code, app-free if possible) that lets me set and change the exact sequence of collections shown on any page where I feature them.
• Changes must persist after theme updates and be easy for a non-developer to adjust later.

How you might tackle it
Feel free to leverage Liquid, JavaScript, or the Admin API; metafields or a lightweight drag-and-drop overlay could work, or even numbered position fields in the admin—whichever keeps the workflow clean and fast. I’m open to your preferred method as long as it delivers true manual ordering without harming Dawn’s performance or future upgrade path.

Deliverable
Updated Dawn theme files (and any supplementary code) fully integrated, documented, and tested so I can reorder collections at will and see the result instantly on the storefront.
