Add German Cookie Banner

My business site stefanlanger.net is running on WordPress and needs to show a cookie consent banner. I have installed some plug-in, but its not working. This needs to be fixed.
The consent must be conform to "DSGVO" the german standard. There are such free plugins available.
The site is a standard WordPress setup, so feel free to work with a popular GDPR/cookie-notice plugin or lightweight custom code—whichever gets the job done cleanly without adding bloat.
Once finished, please send a short note describing what you changed, any plugin settings you touched and confirmation that everything has been retested. That’s all I need to sign off.
