Freelance Web Developer (Node.js / WordPress) – Multi-Website Project

Project Overview
We are a group of companies looking to collaborate with a senior freelance web developer for the restructuring and development of 8 websites.

The scope is mixed:
Some websites require minor amendments and optimization
Others must be rebuilt from scratch
Most are currently WordPress-based
A few are custom-built
This is not a one-off gig. We are deliberately structuring the engagement in phases to identify a long-term partner.

Technical Stack & Expectations
We are looking for someone who is comfortable across both modern backend and CMS environments, with a strong engineering mindset.

Required expertise:
Node.js (strong proficiency required)
WordPress (custom themes, plugins, performance, security)

Solid understanding of:
Backend architecture
APIs & integrations
Performance optimization
Security best practices
Ability to work cleanly on existing codebases as well as build from zero
Experience with headless WordPress
Familiarity with deployment, hosting, and maintenance best practices
UI/UX sensitivity (we favor clean, elegant, minimalist designs)
Engagement Structure (Important)

To ensure alignment and quality, the collaboration will start as follows:

Phase 1 – Paid Test Project
You will fully build or significantly rework one website
This project is paid, fairly and transparently
Clear scope and expectations will be defined upfront

Phase 2 – Extended Collaboration
If the result meets our expectations (quality, communication, autonomy),
you will be entrusted with the remaining websites (up to 7 additional projects)
We value execution, reliability, and long-term thinking over speed alone.
