Homepage Refresh for Woodworking Brand
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
The business I have just taken over has been producing a specialised woodworking machine – and all its jigs and spare parts – since 1988. The product line is still strong, yet the site that presents it has stood still. My immediate priority is to relaunch the brand, starting with a complete redesign of the homepage so that visitors instantly feel the company’s heritage and renewed energy.
The first page must put our company history and legacy front-and-centre. I will provide decades of photos, brochures and press cuttings; I need you to shape them into a clean, engaging narrative that tells the story of how the original founder started the firm and why the machine remains unique today. While doing this, the overall look and feel should be brought up to modern standards—responsive layout, clear typography, fast loading, and search-friendly copy.
Deliverables I expect:
• A fully-developed, mobile-responsive homepage the existing website is in squarespace so I want to keep that. woodrat.com
• Polished copy that weaves the historical material into a concise story.
• Photography and document clean-up where needed so vintage images don’t look dated in the wrong way.
• A style guide or reusable theme components to ensure the rest of the site can adopt the same design language when we move on to later phases.
Acceptance criteria:
1. The new homepage loads quickly and displays flawlessly on desktop, tablet and phone.
2. A visitor immediately finds a brief founder’s story, a timeline or similar device that highlights key milestones, and a clear call-to-action that signals the brand’s relaunch.
3. All text is proof-read, SEO-friendly and ready to go live.
4. The hand-off package (theme files, graphics, style guide) allows me to expand the refresh across the remaining pages without starting from scratch.
If you can blend solid front-end skills with an eye for storytelling and brand revival, let’s get this first page shining; the full-site makeover will follow right after.
