Accessible WordPress Website Development
Budget: $250 – $400 USD
**Project Overview**
I need a freelancer to help me transition the current theme to a better theme to finalize the development of my small business website using my existing **WordPress.com paid plan**. The site must be **Section 508 compliant** and designed with a clean, professional, and accessible layout that works across mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.
**Website Requirements**
1. **Platform & Theme**
* Use WordPress.com (Business or eCommerce Plan)
* Apply and customize a **specific theme** (to be provided or selected in collaboration)
* Ensure theme is fully **responsive** (mobile-friendly) and **Section 508 compliant**
2. **Design & Branding**
* Integrate existing **logo**
* Apply brand colors and fonts
* Replace stock images with **accessible, visually appealing alternatives** (no real people preferred)
* Ensure high **color contrast**, readable font sizes, and keyboard-friendly navigation
3. **Content Integration**
* Populate the site with provided content: About Us, Services, Contact, etc.
* Ensure headings are properly structured (H1, H2, etc.) for accessibility
* Proof content for layout consistency and minor grammar or formatting issues
4. **Functionality**
* Set up an **Intake Form** that:
* Sends an **automated email confirmation to the sender**
* Sends a copy to my **business email**
* Ensure all buttons and links are functioning properly
* Ensure site speed is optimized and loading times are minimal
Also,
* Ensure the Language change functionality is implemented on the website to provide the user the option.
* Ensure the Cookie Content is functional and implemented.
* A separate section or page in the website is available for each of the following: Capability Statement, Services Offered, Intake Form, About Us, Privacy Policy, etc.
5. **Accessibility & Compliance**
* Make sure the site is **fully Section 508 compliant**
* Use semantic HTML, alt text, ARIA landmarks, and proper heading structure
* Ensure form fields are labeled and screen-reader compatible
* Validate keyboard-only usability
* Run accessibility checks using tools like **WAVE** or **Lighthouse**
6. **Testing & Final Review**
* Test the website across major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox)
* Test responsive design on desktop, mobile, and tablet
* Perform final quality assurance and accessibility validation
* Walkthrough/demo meeting to confirm everything functions as expected
Deliverables
* Completed and live WordPress website
* Working intake form with email functionality
* Accessibility validation report (e.g., WAVE, Lighthouse screenshots or results)
* Editable image and asset files (if applicable)
Timeline
* Estimated turnaround: **1–2 weeks**, depending on availability and revision cycles
Communication
* Weekly progress updates (via email or preferred platform)
* Quick turnaround on minor changes or bug fixes during the review phase
The current website theme is not necessarily at the level I wanted to be... that is why I need different them. https://alignnfortify.io/
