Repair and Upgrade vTiger Installation

Our vTiger CRM instance has recently been moved to a new server and is exhibiting some odd behaviour. Some characteristics include not being able to save records, update user passwords, and in some areas an unexpected "i" is rendering in areas.
We are currently on vTiger 6.2 and require to upgrade this to the most current version.
