Raspberry Pi VPN Node System
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Job Description:
I am looking to hire a networking expert to build a scalable VPN node system using Raspberry Pi devices, which can be deployed in multiple home networks.
Each node will:
Act as a VPN gateway (like a personal proxy/VPN server)
Register with Dynamic DNS (DDNS)
Allow remote clients to connect through it
Log basic usage for potential profit-sharing and rewards
This is similar in concept to Mysterium, Honeygain, or Pawns.app, but I want to create a custom solution using open-source tools.
Objectives:
Configure Raspberry Pi as a secure VPN/proxy gateway (WireGuard preferred)
Set up automatic DDNS so remote clients can always reach each Pi node
Design system so multiple Pi nodes (from different homes) can be added easily
Ensure remote clients can connect using standard apps (WireGuard, OpenVPN, or custom client)
Track bandwidth usage or uptime per node for profit calculation
Provide secure remote config/monitoring method (e.g., admin dashboard or central server)
Guide the deployment process so non-technical users can host a Pi and start earning
Tech Stack Suggestions (open to your advice):
VPN: WireGuard or OpenVPN
OS: Raspberry Pi OS Lite
DDNS: DuckDNS or similar
Remote Access: SSH + dashboard or CLI tools
Usage tracking: Python script + SQLite/JSON log
Optional: Integrate with payment/reward system later
Use Case:
Anyone can host a Raspberry Pi on their home network, share it as a VPN gateway, and earn based on:
Traffic volume routed through their node
Uptime or availability
Optional: Location diversity or premium IP
Requirements:
Strong networking and VPN experience
Raspberry Pi/Linux administration
Understanding of DDNS, routing, and firewall rules
Familiarity with scalable node networks is a huge plus
Security best practices (encryption, key management, port security)
I'm looking for a skilled developer to create a Raspberry Pi VPN node system that incorporates DDNS and supports multi-home network access with a profit-sharing model. The system should utilize OpenVPN as the VPN protocol and connect to a single network interface.
Key Requirements:
- Develop a VPN node system on Raspberry Pi using OpenVPN
- Integrate a DDNS service (optional) for dynamic IP address management
- Ensure seamless multi-home network access
- Implement a profit-sharing model for network usage
- Provide documentation for setup and configuration
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in setting up VPNs, specifically OpenVPN, on Raspberry Pi
- Experience with DDNS services such as No-IP, DuckDNS, or DynDNS
- Strong understanding of network configurations and multi-home network access
- Ability to design and implement profit-sharing models
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
I'm eager to collaborate with a developer who can bring this project to life and ensure a robust and efficient system.
