Home Cisco Router Configuration Setup

I have a Cisco router ready to become the heart of my home network and need it configured cleanly and securely. The core requirements are a reliable VPN so I can reach my devices while traveling and a separate guest network that keeps visitors off the main LAN. Day-to-day management should be possible through the vendor’s mobile app; please enable any services or security settings that make that experience smooth.

You’ll start with a fresh or factory-reset unit, apply best-practice hardening, then build out:

• Site-to-site or remote-access VPN (whichever suits a residential WAN IP) with clear instructions for connecting from laptops and phones.
• An isolated wireless guest SSID throttled or firewalled to protect the primary network.
• Mobile-app administration enabled and tested, including any required firmware updates or cloud registration.

When you’re done, I need the running-config file, a quick change log of commands or GUI steps you used, and a short cheat-sheet so I can tweak settings confidently in the future. Parental controls aren’t a priority right now, but I’m happy to hear recommendations if they fit naturally within the build.
