Configure Fortinet Remote VPN

I need a Remote Access VPN set up on my Fortinet firewall so that staff can connect securely from outside the office using FortiClient. The connection will rely on simple password-only authentication—no tokens or certificates this time—so the job focuses on properly creating user accounts, assigning policies, and ensuring encryption settings follow Fortinet best practices.

Here’s what I expect once you’re done:
• A working FortiClient profile that users can import and connect with.
• All necessary firewall objects, user groups, and security policies configured and saved.
• Clear step-by-step documentation so I can duplicate the setup or make edits later.
• A brief remote test session to confirm that the tunnel comes up, internal resources are reachable, and DNS splits correctly.

You’ll have full admin access to the FortiGate during a coordinated maintenance window, and I’m happy to provide any current config files you need beforehand.
