Below are the audio criteria and guidelines that must be followed from the beginning to the final delivery of the product.
Decibel Level -Generally, audio should be recorded at a peak level of around -3 dB to -6 dB to allow for some headroom without clipping. Adjust this as needed based on the specific audio source and content.
Sample Rate - Common sample rates are 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz for high-quality audio. Use 48 kHz (minimum) as a standard unless there are specific reasons to choose a different rate.
Bit Depth- Use 24-bit audio for high fidelity. This allows for a greater dynamic range and less quantization noise.
Volume - Audios should normalize between -10db to -20db.
Consistent Volume - Maintain a consistent volume level throughout the recording. Use a compressor or volume normalization during post-production if necessary.
Clear Articulation - Instruct speakers to articulate clearly and avoid mumbling or speaking too quickly and too loudly
Script Review - Review and edit scripts to eliminate potential tongue twisters or difficult-to-pronounce words.
Recording Environment - Audios should be recorded in a noise-free environment. ie, a professional recording studio with acoustic treatment
Recording Hardware - Audios should be recorded with High-quality studio-grade Microphones. Can either be Condenser, Dynamic, or Shotgun depending on the project. Do not use recording devices such as Smartphones, or Lavalier Microphones to record audio for projects.
Recording Software - Audios should be recorded with Studio-Quality recording software such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, Logic, or Pro Tools. Do not use built-in voice recording software on your devices such as Windows or Android.
Post Processing - Audios should be post-processed with minimal Noise reduction if there are any unwanted noises. However, the noise reduction effect should not affect the audio quality of the voice.
Trimming - Audios should be split up into different audio files according to the narration script. Audio files to be trimmed by section and not sent as single file.
Partitioning - Separate audio files should be partitioned into different Subject-wise folders according to the narration script, either section or otherwise accordingly.
Naming - Audios should be split up into different audio files according to the narration script and they should be named according to the following matrix.
