Demo of existing female ballad of love and frustration - "Why Can't You Love Me Now?"
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am in the process of writing a Broadway Musical, PERCY, based on the life of Percy Grainger, the Australian pianist and composer of the early 1900's. During his younger life, his romantic relationships were provided only at the demand of his mother with her piano students to preserve Percy's public image and debunk rumors of an underlying incestuous love for his mother. One young girl fell hard for the talented musician and sings this ballad of confusion and resentment to an unresponsive lover.
The girl (mid-twenties) is youthful, innocent and bewildered at his warm/cold reactions. Her range is a stretched alto from G3 (NOT a sustained note) to F4 in a stage voice, not overly trained, similar to Les Miserables' Eponine.
There is a demo of the song with orchestration which will show the feelings and the range needed. But the singer, a dear friend, has a much more mature voice than I want for the show. This song, "Why Can't You Love Me Now?" is on YOUTUBE if you would go to "Steve Bradford Piano" and select the young girl's face next to the title.
I am interested in working with someone who has both the skills and the interest, not just a singer.

- Storytelling abilities to bring a narrative to life through music
- Excellent vocal range and control.
