Review

This book will captivate you from the first chapter.
A story of fun times for Paul and the start of a childhood of mischief,
friendships, fun and endless trouble.
The story of a young lad with a harsh, military father stationed in Portsmouth
and a mother suffering with severe mental health issues. After his mother
was committed to the local asylum the family was torn apart. Paul was
sent away to live with his loving grandparents up north in the Steel City of
Sheffield.
It was here that Paul was shown how to fight a bully who was 3 years his
senior, taught himself to ride horses like a rodeo star, and risked life and
limb handling a home-made go-cart at high speed.
The story is packed with northern humour, great characters and funny
events that will have you flicking through the pages at a fair lick.
After 18 months in Sheffield Paul was dragged screaming back down south
and the whole cycle begins again, until Paul’s continuous truanting from
school came to the attention of the dreaded Social Services.
Funny, sad and lots of laugh out loud moments in this book. A real
rollercoaster ride following Paul’s turbulent childhood. You will find yourself
racing through the chapters to find out what happens next to this young,
spirited lad who fought through the early years of his life and survived to
tell the tale.
This book has been written in a way that brings the characters to life and
entices the reader to glide through the pages with ease.
A must-read book. Looking forward already to the next one.
