Call for participants:Italian dialect conversational data collection

Hustler Marketing is recruiting freelancers for a real-world conversational speech data collection project in Italian dialects. We are looking for native Italian speakers who can work with a partner remotely via Zoom. You will be placed in a work group where you can pair up with other participants to complete the recordings.
Compensation: $36 USD per hour per person (both partners receive the full hourly rate).

This project aims to capture natural two-person conversations across the Healthcare, Call Center, and Meeting domains to support advanced language research.

Requirements
• Must be a native speaker of Italian
• Must work with a partner (not required to be in the same location)
• Recordings can be done via Zoom, with specific settings applied beforehand
• Conversations must be natural, unscripted, and free from long pauses or overlapping speech
• Ability to speak clearly and use domain-specific vocabulary (medical or professional terms)
• Participants must be 18+
• You will select the conversation length and type (Medium: 20–21 min, Long: 40–41 min) when completing the online form

Technical Specifications
• File format: .flac or .wav
• Sample rate:
• 16 kHz for Healthcare & Meeting domains
• 8 kHz for Call Center domain
• Audio channel: Stereo (Speaker 1 on left, Speaker 2 on right)
• Recording length:
• Medium: 20–21 minutes
• Long: 40–41 minutes
• Mandatory metadata per file: locale, number of speakers, gender, domain, conversation type


Recording Environment

A quiet room with minimal background noise is required. Natural environmental sounds are acceptable, but disruptive noises are not.

Supported Conversation Domains
• Healthcare: doctor–patient, therapist–patient, dentist–patient, in person or telemedicine
• Call Center: sales, marketing, finance, insurance, healthcare, hospitality, government
• Meetings: employee discussions, sales meetings, teacher–student interactions, virtual or in-person

Important Rules
• AI-generated or synthetic voices are strictly forbidden
• All recordings must be authentic and fully human-made
• Follow all technical and linguistic guidelines to avoid rejection

Rejection Criteria

Recordings may be rejected if they:
• Fail to meet audio format or sampling requirements
• Sound scripted, unnatural, or robotic
• Contain heavy background noise or distortion
• Misrepresent accents or dialects
