Voice-Controlled Excel Expense Tracker
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I have three separate projects that each need their own expense sheet. Every sheet must contain exactly five columns in this order: Date, Expense Name, Amount, Cash/Transfer, and a running Cumulative Total that auto-calculates as new rows are added. The layout itself is simple—the real task is removing manual data entry.
My daily workflow is on Gemini for mobile (Android phone), and I store everything in Microsoft Excel. I want to be able to say something like:
“Gemini, for Project One add ‘Printer ink’, today’s date, 29 dollars, paid in cash.”
Gemini should recognise the spoken project name, append the new row in the correct worksheet, and instantly update the cumulative total formula. No typing at all on my side.
Key expectations
• Clean Excel workbooks X3 containing one sheet, pre-formatted with the five columns and the cumulative total logic.
• A working voice command solution that runs on my phone via Gemini, parses my sentence, routes the data to the right sheet, and confirms the entry. Whether you use the Gemini API with Python, a webhook into Power Automate, Office Scripts, or another method is up to you—as long as it works reliably inside the Microsoft Excel environment I’m already using.
• Simple instructions so I can re-authorise tokens or add further projects later.
Acceptance test
I press the Gemini mic, dictate an expense for any of the three project names, and within a few seconds the correct sheet shows the new line with an updated running total.
If you have built voice-to-Excel automations before—or are comfortable with Gemini API, Office Scripts, Python, Power Automate, or similar—I’d love to get this set up quickly.
