Project Documentation for AI Voice Recording
Purpose
This project aims to collect voice recordings on participants' cell phones for artificial intelligence purposes. The recordings are for non-commercial use and will be used to improve AI algorithms.
Recording Requirements
for this phase of the project is needed 25 australians and 25 british native speakers under this conditions:
Age Groups and Ratios
• Age Groups:
◦ Children (<14 years old): 2 participants (1 boy and 1 girl)
◦ Adults (14 to 50 years old): 16 participants (8 men and 8 women)
◦ Older Adults (>50 years old): 4 participants (2 men and 2 women)
• Gender Ratio:
◦ Male to Female ratio: 1:1 across all age groups.
Recording Instructions
1. Number of Sentences:
◦ Each participant will record 504 unique sentences.
◦ Each sentence is recorded twice:
▪ Once at normal speed.
▪ Once at a slightly faster speed.
2. Special Sentences:
◦ The following two entries are recorded 10 times each:
▪ "Hey TCL" (en0001)
▪ "Hey Alpha" (en0002)
◦ Breakdown of recordings:
▪ 7 times at normal speed.
▪ 3 times at a slightly faster speed.
Summary of Recording:
• For each participant:
◦ Total Sentences:
▪ 502 sentences recorded twice: 502 x 2 = 1004 recordings.
▪ 2 special sentences recorded 10 times each: 2 x 10 = 20 recordings.
◦ Grand Total:
▪ 1004 + 20 = 1024 recordings per participant.
Technical Instructions
1. Recording Guidelines:
◦ Stay mute for one second before starting to speak.
◦ Speak the sentence.
◦ Stay mute for one second after finishing the sentence.
2. Audio Specifications:
◦ Sample Rate: 44 KHz
◦ Bit Depth: 16-bit
◦ Channel: Single Channel
◦ Format: WAV
3. Equipment:
◦ Recommended app: Easy Voice Recorder (or equivalent).
4. File Naming:
◦ Name the files sequentially: 1.wav, 2.wav, 3.wav, etc.
Data Management
1. Each participant is assigned a unique recording ID.
2. Each participant’s text sentences are unique and pre-assigned.
3. Delivery Format:
◦ All recordings are submitted in a folder, named by the participant’s unique ID.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
• Ensure all participants understand the instructions clearly.
• Perform a test recording to confirm the technical settings before proceeding.
• Verify recordings for clarity, speed adherence, and compliance with mute periods.
