VMware ESXi: CREATE 1vm machine
Budget: $2 – $8 USD
The goal of this project is to create, install, secure, and document one (1) virtual machine on VMware ESXi.
Update vmwareesxy_8 SECURITY
The server will run Ubuntu Server 20.04 with CyberPanel and will be used for professional web hosting.
"I need a clean backup of my operating system before installing CyberPanel. A snapshot and clone must be performed first; otherwise, I won't be able to change the control panel later."
MANDATORY – BACKUP BEFORE CONTROL PANEL INSTALLATION
Before installing CyberPanel, the freelancer MUST create a full operating system backup.
This backup is required to allow future control panel changes without reinstalling the OS.
The following steps MUST be done in this exact order:
1. Clean OS installation
- Install Ubuntu Server 20.04
- Configure static IP, hostname and SSH access
- Apply system updates
- DO NOT install any control panel at this stage
2. VMware Snapshot (CRITICAL)
- Create a VMware snapshot BEFORE installing CyberPanel
- Snapshot name MUST be:
CLEAN_OS_BEFORE_CYBERPANEL
- This snapshot will be used to restore the VM if another control panel is installed later
3. Full VM Clone (Clean OS Backup)
- Create a full clone of the VM after the snapshot
- Clone name example:
cyberpanel-01-CLEAN-OS
- The cloned VM must boot correctly and be independent
4. CyberPanel Installation
- Install CyberPanel ONLY after the snapshot and clone are completed
5. Post-installation backup (recommended)
- After CyberPanel is fully installed and stable:
- Create an additional snapshot or clone
- Optional: export OVF/OVA for long-term archive
IMPORTANT:
- CyberPanel MUST NOT be installed before the snapshot and clone are completed
- The job is NOT considered complete without proof of these backups
