Solution Architect - Healthcare Cloud Migration (15+ Years Experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with extensive healthcare domain knowledge to guide a critical infrastructure transition from on-premises VMware to cloud (AWS/Azure). This senior architect will lead the assessment of existing healthcare systems, provide strategic recommendations for cloud platform selection, and architect a secure, compliant migration path that ensures continuity of critical healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Strategy
• Conduct comprehensive assessment of current VMware on-premises infrastructure supporting healthcare applications
• Evaluate workload characteristics, dependencies, and performance requirements of healthcare systems
• Analyze compliance, security, and data sovereignty requirements specific to healthcare regulations
• Develop comparative analysis between AWS and Azure platforms specific to healthcare workloads
• Create strategic recommendations for cloud platform selection with clear business justification
• Design phased migration roadmap with risk mitigation strategies for healthcare-critical systems
Architecture & Design
• Architect cloud infrastructure solutions optimized for healthcare workloads on AWS and/or Azure
• Design hybrid connectivity solutions during transition phases to ensure uninterrupted operations
• Develop cloud security architecture that maintains or enhances HIPAA/HITECH compliance
• Create disaster recovery and business continuity solutions leveraging cloud capabilities
• Design cost optimization strategies while maintaining healthcare performance requirements
• Architect solutions for healthcare-specific challenges (data locality, latency requirements, etc.)
Implementation Leadership
• Provide technical guidance to migration teams throughout the transition process
• Establish architectural governance to ensure compliance with healthcare standards
• Define and validate testing methodologies for healthcare applications in cloud environments
• Create architecture documentation and cloud operating models for healthcare IT teams
• Mentor team members on cloud architecture best practices for healthcare workloads
Required Qualifications
• 15+ years of experience in IT architecture roles, with significant focus on healthcare environments
• Extensive experience with VMware virtualization technologies in healthcare settings
• Deep knowledge of both AWS and Azure cloud platforms and their healthcare-specific offerings
• Demonstrated experience migrating healthcare workloads from on-premises to cloud environments
• Expert understanding of healthcare compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST)
• Experience with healthcare-specific applications (EHR systems, PACS, clinical applications)
• Strong knowledge of cloud security models for protected health information (PHI)
• Proven track record of successful large-scale infrastructure transformations
• Experience with cost modeling and TCO analysis for healthcare cloud migrations
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced certifications in both AWS and Azure cloud platforms
• VMware certifications (VCDX, VCP-DCV)
• Experience with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM)
• Background in healthcare data analytics and cloud-based analytics platforms
• Knowledge of healthcare-specific SaaS offerings and integration patterns
