Modernize VB6 UI Layout
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I have an existing Visual Basic 6 application that works well on the back-end but feels dated the moment users open it. I want a developer who can refresh the interface so it looks and behaves like a contemporary Windows desktop app.
The focus is squarely on layout and navigation. Menus, toolbars, tab order, and form flow need to be re-thought so screens feel cleaner and users reach key functions faster. This may involve restructuring several VB6 forms, introducing splitter panes, docking panels, or wizard-style dialogs, and applying consistent spacing and alignment. While my immediate priority is layout, I’m open to tasteful updates to colors or icons if they naturally support the new structure.
You’ll be working with the original .vbp, .frm, and .bas files. Please feel comfortable manipulating legacy controls, replacing them with modern alternatives (e.g., MSFlexGrid to ListView, intrinsic controls to COM components) and ensuring everything still compiles in the VB6 IDE on Windows 10.
Deliverables:
• Updated project source with re-organized forms and navigation logic
• A concise change log so I can track modifications
• Build instructions confirming the project compiles cleanly after your changes
I’ll test the new layout against real user workflows; acceptance is complete once navigation feels intuitive and no existing functionality is broken. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, let’s talk timelines and milestones.
