Excel Grading Spreadsheet

I would like the attached spreadsheet to allow me to check one of the three statements for each topic to grade a student and tally up their total points in Cell G8. For each topic I will select the text either in column B, C or D. I would like the selection to highlight in a color. I would like the selection to be dynamic so if I later change to a different selection. Points are tallied for each topic. Column B: Meet Expectations is worth 3 points, Column C: Approaching Expectations is worth 2 points and Column D: Needs Improvement is worth 1 point. I would like the total points to be displayed in cell G8. See tab Student 1 for an example of what I want it to look like after the cells are selected.

I want to make a copy of the sheet for each student.
