Whimsical Diabetes Story Illustrations
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have written a children’s picture book that gently explains Type 1 diabetes to young readers aged 4–7. To bring the story to life I need around ten full-page, whimsical illustrations that balance warmth and clear educational cues so children come away with a feeling of learning and understanding rather than fear.
The artwork should be playful and imaginative while still depicting key moments accurately: monitoring blood sugar, taking insulin, enjoying everyday adventures, and realising that life with diabetes can still be fun. Bright, friendly colour palettes, expressive characters, and easy-to-follow visual storytelling are essential.
Deliverables
• Ten finished illustrations, sized for an 8.5 × 11 inch print layout, 300 dpi, CMYK
• Layered source files (Procreate, Photoshop or Illustrator) so text and small details can be tweaked before print
• Flattened print-ready PDFs or TIFFs for each page
• A consistent style guide covering colours and character design so future books in the series stay on brand
Acceptance criteria
Artwork must meet the sizing and resolution specs, show consistent character proportions throughout, and clearly highlight equipment such as insulin pens or pumps in a non-scary, child-friendly way.
Once approved, I will provide the final page text and any reference photos you may need for medical details or setting. I am happy to review rough sketches first, followed by colour proofs, before we move to final renders.
