Fix macOS VMware Networking
Budget: $8 – $15 USD
I’m running VMware Workstation Pro 17.x and have a macOS guest that refuses to see the network. I can start the virtual machine just fine—macOS boots—but there’s simply no internet or LAN connectivity, no matter which VMware adapter I choose or how I tweak the settings.
What I need is straightforward: diagnose why the virtual NIC isn’t being detected inside macOS and configure it so the guest can browse the web, reach other machines on my network, and generally act as a normal, connected computer. Whether the final solution involves Bridged, NAT, or Host-Only mode doesn’t matter to me; I just need a reliable connection and a brief explanation of what you changed so I can reproduce it later if I move the VM.
You’re welcome to handle this over any remote-control tool you prefer—Anydesk, TeamViewer, or VMware’s own remote console. I’ll have the host machine ready and can reboot or test on demand. Once you’re done, macOS should obtain an IP, pass traffic, and keep that configuration after a reboot.
If you’ve already wrestled with macOS networking on Workstation 17.x and know the usual kext, driver, or vmx tweaks, this should be quick work.
