Dell M1000e Blade Setup
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I have a Dell M1000e chassis in place and I’m about to slide in a set of brand-new M640 blades that will run VMware ESXi. Before they go live I need an expert who knows this enclosure inside out to:
• Update the CMC firmware so the chassis recognises and fully supports the M640 generation
• Walk me through—or remotely carry out—the blade installation, cabling and initial power-on checks
• Ensure ESXi installs cleanly on each blade and the hosts report correctly to vCenter once they’re up
Success for me means the CMC shows healthy status, both M640s boot straight into ESXi without errors, and all chassis fans, power, and thermal readings stay within normal ranges. If you’ve done this exact upgrade path before and can share best-practice guidance while you work, let’s get started.
