Cinematic Film Director & Camera Operator
Budget: $30 – $250 SGD
We're a team of passionate indie filmmakers in Singapore working on a heartwarming short film, and we're seeking a talented and experienced Cinematographer + Camera Operator to join our crew for an upcoming indie short film project. As the Director of Photography/Cinematographer, you will be responsible for creating visually stunning and compelling shots that enhance the overall storytelling of the film. This role requires a strong eye for detail, excellent technical skills, and a deep understanding of lighting, composition, and camera movement.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Director to develop visual concepts, visual style, mood of the film and achieve desired aesthetic
- Select and operate appropriate camera and lighting equipment. Operate the camera during filming, ensuring smooth and stable shots.
- Plan and execute all camera work, including selecting appropriate lenses, filters, and lighting setups.
- Set up and frame shots, capturing high-quality footage. Troubleshoot any issues that arise during filming and ensure high-quality footage.
- Oversee the camera crew and coordinate with the lighting and sound departments.
- Ensure consistency and continuity of visual style throughout the film. Ensure that all shots align with the director’s vision and the film’s narrative.
- Adjust camera settings, including focus, exposure, and framing, based on scene requirements.
- Manage and maintain camera equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition.
- Work closely with the lighting and sound departments to synchronize efforts and achieve cohesive scenes.
Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment before and after shoots.
- Manage the technical aspects of the shoot, including camera settings, focus, exposure, and framing.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure smooth workflow
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Director of Photography/Cinematographer + Camera Operator for short films or similar projects. Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in visual storytelling and cinematography.
- Proficiency in operating professional camera and lighting equipment
- Strong knowledge of composition, lighting techniques, and camera movements
- Strong understanding of camera techniques, shot composition, and framing.
- Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively with the production team.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the Director and production team
- Proficiency with industry-standard cameras and equipment.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing production needs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Must be based in Singapore.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in filming on PANASONIC EVA 1 or Sony FX6/FX3
- Knowledge of post-production processes and colour grading.
- Experience in filming
Familiarity with various camera rigs, gimble, and stabilization equipment.
