Video-Centric Social Networking App Developer

Job ID: 40482719

Budget: $2 – $8 AUD

Experienced app developers only
Must be able to show 5-10 relevant apps you have developed. Please don’t mention due to NDA you can’t show the apps you have developed.

I’m building a mobile-first social platform where everything revolves around sharing short-form videos. Users will be able to record or upload clips, add captions, tag locations or friends, then publish to a central feed their followers can scroll in an endless, full-screen player. Because video is the sole media type, the interface, storage, and bandwidth strategy should be fully optimised for fast encoding, adaptive streaming, and smooth playback on both Wi-Fi and cellular connections.

Beyond regular video posts, I need two headline features:

• Live streaming – creators can go live straight from the camera screen, with real-time viewer comments and basic moderation controls. When a stream ends, it should optionally save as a replay in the profile.
• Stories – 24-hour ephemeral videos that appear in a swipeable carousel at the top of the feed. After the expiry window they vanish automatically.

Core components I expect:

• Native or high-performance cross-platform app for iOS and Android
• Secure sign-up/login (email, phone, or social auth) and standard community features such as follow/unfollow, likes, threaded comments, and push notifications
• Scalable backend with cloud storage/CDN for video files, HLS/DASH streaming, and database for user data
• Admin dashboard to monitor content, flag abuse, and view analytics
• Clean, modern UI/UX mock-ups before development begins
• Source code, API documentation, and a short hand-over session at delivery

Acceptance criteria: videos load in under two seconds on a 4G network, live streams run for at least one hour without buffer drops, and stories disappear exactly 24 hours after posting. Integration tests and a small beta release on TestFlight/Google Play Internal Track will confirm stability.

Feel free to propose your preferred stack (e.g., Swift/Kotlin with AWS MediaConvert, or Flutter/React Native plus Firebase) as long as it meets these performance goals and can grow to millions of users.
