Download Videos to Drop Box

Job ID: 34827731

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

The United Nations recently completed the 77th General Assembly (a series of presentations that can be found in Google searching for “UNGA 77”). United Nations member countries (meaning most countries on earth) sent their heads of state (including dozens of presidents, prime ministers, kings and Supreme Leaders) to give speeches to one another there. Sometimes the heads of state sent lower level Foreign Ministers to give speeches in their place. But sometimes they presented themselves. Usually the speeches are either in English or published with English voice overs. I want to hire you to download all of the videos in English, and to save them in a drop box folder - organized simply by country. If you do a good job downloading and organizing them, then there might be more work to do, too.

All of the videos of these UNGA 77 speeches are now online at the United Nations website. A smaller number of them have also been posted on YouTube.com.

You may have to search on the Internet to find a free way to download the videos. I have been successful downloading YouTube videos for free in the past using:

There are also some UNGA 77 videos that haven’t been posted on YouTube yet. Some are only on the United Nations website. Probably there’s a similar way to download those for free as well. It will be up to you to figure out how to download them all excellently.

There are 185 countries at the United Nations. Last year I found and downloaded 40 or 50 UNGA speeches in two days. You must have a fast download connection speed to do this quickly.

I only need the most substantial speeches by heads of governments and foreign ministers called General Debate. I don’t need follow-on speeches, breakout sessions or any of the shorter presentations. There should be one video per country in the drop box.

If you are very efficient, then I may ask you to do a follow-up assignment involving counting certain vocabulary words in the videos. If you’re knowledgeable about video editing, I might also ask you in a follow-on project to do some editing as well. But that isn’t what’s most important to me. If you can merely gather, download and organize the UNGA 77 videos for me in a drop box folder, then that will be enough for me to feel you have done great work.
