Space garage on the Moon

Job ID: 31580251

Budget: €30 – €250 EUR

My name is Laura, I am a Phd student in space engineering. I would like to promote my Phd topic and make more understandable for the public.
I am working on a protective shelter on the Moon for rovers. The challenge is not only the lunar days where the temperature increases up to +125°C for 14 terrestrial days, but also for the lunar night where the temperature drops until -173°C, for approximately other 14 days. The scenario is the future concept of a Moon village with structures and scientists operating and performing experiments. Let’s imagine that a rover, which is executing commands in a certain point B, has to drive back to a base located in point A. Suddenly, this operation could not be possible if the lunar night comes. So, there is the need to have a shelter or some sort of garage where the rover can protect itself from the cold night. The thermal shelter becomes fundamental for its survival. Its technology on board can tolerate maximum -40°C.
The shelter has a deployable structure with a fixed skeleton and a soft "curtain like" sheets that are deployed just right before the lunar night comes.
