100 Mile Race Documentary

Job ID: 40133405

Budget: $500 – $1,000 USD

I’m looking for a freelance filmmaker/videographer to help create a long-form documentary-style video centered around a 100-mile endurance challenge I’ll be attempting during my final semester at Loras College.

This project is about much more than running. It’s about closing a major chapter of life with intention.

After four years at Loras, as a triple major, former college athlete, and someone who found a deep passion for endurance running. I’m choosing to end my college journey by attempting something that feels almost impossible: running 100 miles overnight on the Loras College track.

The documentary would follow me as the main character, capturing:

- Training and preparation during my final semester
- The mental, physical, and emotional build-up to race day
- The overnight 100-mile attempt itself (highs, lows, fatigue, perseverance)
- The role of community, discipline, and giving back
- The symbolism of finishing this challenge on the same campus that shaped me
- This is a story about growth, identity, gratitude, and transition, using endurance as the vehicle.

Race day: Overnight filming from Friday, Feb 6 (5:00 PM) through Saturday morning

Final deliverable: One longer-form documentary (exact length flexible)

What I’m Looking For

- Someone who values storytelling as much as visuals
- Comfortable working in low light / overnight environments (5:00pm to ~8:00am-12:00pm) (15-20hrs)
- Able to capture candid moments, not just staged shots
-Open to collaboration on narrative and structure
- This does not need to be a massive crew. A solo filmmaker or small team is totally fine.

Budget

My budget isn’t unlimited, but I’m open to discussing compensation, creative structure, and scope depending on experience and involvement. I care far more about telling the story the right way than flashy production.

How to Reach Out

If this project resonates with you, I’d love to connect. Please send:
- A brief intro
- A link to past work (especially documentary or endurance-related pieces)
- Any initial thoughts or ideas you have

This project is meant to live on, not just as a video, but as a reflection of a defining moment in my life. I’m looking for someone who wants to help tell that story honestly.
