FPGA devices offer great flexibility for digital system implementation. System design and verification can be implemented on one hardware platform, taking advantage of hardwired functionality built into the FPGA devices. Low power FPGA devices are used in many mobile applications and facilitate system design modifications without major hardware changes. FPGAs may be configured using a variety of Hardware Descriptive Languages and IDE software environments. This project involves the exploration and demonstration of some of the advantages of the FPGA device flexibility, by developing a lower power fast operating DSP and a test/verification demonstration system. The design will use an industry standard HDL and be implemented on a lower power FPGA device.
