Custom Heraldic Family Crest Design
Budget: $10 – $300 USD
I’m creating a surprise family crest that blends my husband’s heritage with mine, and I need an illustrator who can capture classic heraldry while keeping the forms clean and readable.
Shield & Field
• Shape: heater; flat-topped with curved sides tapering to a point.
• Division: per pale.
• Left side: a heraldic lion rampant in German-flag yellow #FFCC00 set against Washington State University crimson #A60F2D.
• Right side: an eagle displayed in Georgetown grey #63666A on Norwegian-flag blue #00205B.
Ordinaries & Charges
• Base: interlocking chevrons that read as two “M”s and mountain peaks, spanning both halves.
• Center base: a single evergreen tree.
External Ornamentation
• Surrounding the shield: a simple green laurel wreath.
• Crest: a simple gold crown centered above.
Stylistic Notes
• Lion and eagle must follow a heraldic / traditional style, with clear line work suitable for reproduction at small and large scales.
• Laurel wreath and crown should stay uncomplicated—no excessive filigree—so the focus remains on the shield.
Deliverables
1. Scalable vector files (AI or SVG) with all colours in separate layers.
2. High-resolution PNG on transparent background (minimum 3000 px height).
3. A flattened PDF ready for print.
Acceptance Criteria
• Exact hex colours applied as specified.
• Symmetry maintained on the per-pale division and in placement of chevrons and tree.
• Clean outlines suitable for embroidery, engraving, or digital use.
If you enjoy marrying tradition with precise colour work, this project should be a rewarding challenge.
