Fix client-server vb.net connection(sockets) project.

I have a client-server socket project that i need fix.
1) need fix the repeat connections, without lost the persistence. I mean the connection in client side have persistence if connection lost, try connect again, but sometimes i got duplicate connections in server side.
2) compress the data that send client to server and vice versa.
3) clean connection class, order the functions/methods and remove trash code.
IMPORTANT: please send me in your proposal about your knowledge about vb.net and connections/sockets.
