In the capacity of UX/UI Designer, you will report directly to the Director of Front-end Innovation with responsibilities pertaining to all aspects of User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) for CooperSurgical’s digital product portfolio including improvements and refinement of the existing products and solutions as well as development of new products.
The UX/UI Designer is expected to work independently (with minimum guidance) to define products and conduct research to rapidly understand true user needs and determine how these can be best addressed (through UX and UI) to provide value to our customers.
The scope of this job includes current product improvements and new product development associated with Software as a Product (SaaP, e.g, software interfaces as part of physical products, systems, and instruments) and Software as a Service (SaaS, e.g., user interfaces related to cloud-based applications). The scope of products you may work on includes software that manages IVF workstations, software that helps IVF labs run more efficiently, software that helps doctors diagnose the causes of abnormal uterine bleeding, and new to world products that use AI in service of our goal of helping women, babies and families.
CooperSurgical is looking to hire a UX/UI Designer as part of the innovation team to define products and conduct research to rapidly understand true user needs and determine how these can be best addressed (through UX and UI) to provide value to our customers.
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and practices
Experience conducting both in-person and digital research
Proficiency with design tools such as Sketch and Figma
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Can execute UX/UI design work independently or with minimal guidance.
Master’s degree in interaction design, user experience (UX), industrial design (with major in UX) or similar related fields with 2 years of experience preferred.
Minimum of bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience (internship could count as a work experience)
Portfolio that demonstrates your development process and highlights your design skills
Desirable to have work experience within medical or wellness space
Desirable to have experience within an agency environment

Creates and defines UX artifacts such as journey maps, wireframes, prototypes (low and high fidelity) and site maps for new digital and hybrid digital/physical products based around user needs, commercial opportunities and operational requirements
Plans and conducts user research (with both physical and digital products) to identify design opportunities, test hypotheses, define requirements and iterate on prototypes leading to a successful commercial product.
Creates effective, intuive and delightful interfaces that give users confidence in our products and brands
Creates design specifications, style guides and templates to ensure a smooth transition into product development
