Engineer-Led Desktop UX Testing
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I created a desktop application—think of it as a “Carfax for industrial parts”—yet adoption inside our engineering teams isn’t where I expected. I want fresh eyes from fellow engineers who can run through real-world tasks and pinpoint where the user interaction falls short.
What you’ll do
• Install the current Windows build (I’ll provide a link and license).
• Perform a set of everyday lookup, comparison, and report-generation tasks that typical maintenance or design engineers would execute.
• Record screen and voice while you work so I can see decision points and hear thought processes.
• Summarise friction points, confusing labels, missed affordances, and any UI expectations that break down for a technically minded user.
• Propose quick-win tweaks as well as deeper workflow changes backed by examples or sketches.
Acceptance criteria
1. A narrated screen-capture session (≈30 min) showing the full task flow.
2. A concise report (PDF or DOCX) listing: issue description, severity, reproduction step, and your suggested fix.
3. Completion within one week of receiving the build.
Ideal testers are mechanical, electrical, or software engineers comfortable with desktop tools—no professional UX background needed, just honest engineer-level feedback.
