Your client
Physio24 (based in a real business) is a new digital service aspiring to deliver quality physiotherapy in any remote setting, through an app that informs and guides patients on how to manage their health while motivating them through the recovery process.
Problem Statement: “People can’t always come to the clinic for physiotherapy, and while they can be prescribed exercises to do in their own time, fluctuating motivation, pain, or fear of “getting it wrong” can easily lead to inaction, which stalls recovery and can aggravate symptoms.”
Purpose of the service
To provide high standard, effective physiotherapy without the physical presence of a physiotherapist. This can free-up physiotherapists to focus on in-person 1st appointments, diagnosis and serious follow-ups.
Current USPs transferrable to the digital interface
Physio24 Practitioners’ know-how and experience. Techniques and methods applied both through therapeutic touch and via exercise therapies; ability to listen, empathise and explain the condition(s) and recovery process to patients; the method of assessment and intervention that is comprehensive and covers the biology, psychological and social participation of patients.

Intended User
People who favour personalised services and like to explore their physical and mental potential through exercise, while also enjoying managing their recovery independently. They are happy using digital technology, but when it comes to sharing personal health data, they take privacy seriously. Medium-high income earners. The client briefing
Physio24 wants to impress existing and potential investors by bringing a digital dimension to their successful physiotherapy practice. They want to introduce an app that empowers patients to manage their recovery process, through features like:
• A physio program with prescribed exercises for a period, for example, of 4-6 weeks;
• Scheduled manual techniques (included in the plan) that patients can self-apply;
• A gamified pedagogical approach to incentivize completion of each new “level”;
• A dashboard with progress indicators;
• Intuitive self-reporting of both symptoms and progress;
• Use of Augmented Reality (AR), Voice User Interface (VUI), haptics and or motion capture to ensure accuracy, both in reporting (by user) and in supervision (by practitioner).
Physio24’s business goals are:
1. Adoption of the app by existing customers (to free physios’ time for in-person 1st time appointments);
2. Health and personal data retention consent (to enable above mentioned features and future contact);
3. Advocacy from adopting clients that share successful milestones in reviews and social media;
4. Upsell a post-discharge premium open-channel with exclusive, personalised tips, articles and videos.
As a UX/UI designer, you are asked to create an initial vision of the app, including at least three of its features (see top of this page) and fulfilling at least three business goals. Physio24 is relying on your engaging, convincing, and informative prototyping abilities to showcase a proof-of-concept to investors. In other words, presentation counts.
Your prototyping work will be used by Physio24 to*:
1. Chart a user story of the present AS-IS physical experience (pre-App)
2. Tell an aspirational “TO-BE” user story of how things could be (even better)
3. Demonstrate how this digital improvement could look like (mock-up)
4. Give stakeholders a chance to interact with a realistic prototype of the app (XR or VUI) *The above is not a list of deliverables; those details can be found in page 3.
To respond to this briefing, please choose ONE of the personas provided in pages 7 and 8, and use the information collated in these pages. Feel free to run A/B testing and/or conduct your own research but be mindful of the extra time that may require.
There are two submission options for Pass. These are meant to cater both for students wanting to hone higher concept, user story-based prototyping, and students looking into building Hi-Fi interactive prototypes.

PASS Deliverables - Option 1
1. “AS-IS” User Journey Map (UJM) for a stage of your choice (see examples in page 5). This means a UJM charting the present (pre-app) experience, and it should include digital opportunities aligned with both user and business goals.
2. A storyboard charting the user journey “TO-BE” (using insights from 1.).
a. This is the aspirational user story showing the “what if” remote physio worked as well as in presence? b. It responds to the opportunities from the UJM using blue-sky conceptual solutions (no design yet).
3. Either a user-flow, or a wire-flow of the user journey TO-BE designed
a. Think about the quickest way to digitally address the UJM opportunities

4. Mid-Fi mock-up designed in Figma, illustrating your chosen User Journey
