Ethical agent" demo needs both frontend and backend development
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We are seeking a skilled full stack developer to create a functional prototype of an "ethical agent" called "Pseudocrates" (Pseudo-Socrates). This innovative web application combines AI-driven ethical reasoning with educational and business tools.
The prototype will demonstrate core capabilities in both pedagogical and entrepreneurial environments. Crucially, user must be able to successfully complete one or more sample assignments with it.
There is a party interested in potentially supporting the development of the Pseudocrates prototype into a full-fledged research project and/or enterprise. The prototype can therefore be rough around the edges, but it must be persuasively demonstrable to this party by September 20th. Additionally, the contractor should be available during the final week of September to provide remote ad hoc technical assistance if necessary.
The successful candidate will work closely with Pseudocrates' creator, Christopher Schwartz, who is a philosopher at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Dr. Schwartz will provide a specs document to the contractor and be on hand to discuss and assist as needed by the contractor.
If the prototype demonstration is successful, the contractor should expect to be a key player in the subsequent research and development of the complete Pseudocrates app. Note that in addition to the app, there is the possibility that the Pseudocrates project also evolves in the direction of foundational research into "ethical AI".

Technical requirements:

- Database: SQLite (for prototype)
- AI Integration: Experience with NLP libraries and AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI's GPT, Anthropic's Claude)
- RESTful API design and implementation
- Websocket integration for real-time chat functionality
- Responsive design for cross-device compatibility
The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to work "in a crunch"
- Strong full stack development experience
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, particularly in NLP
- Ability to create intuitive user interfaces
- Experience with real-time web applications
